Fire Evacuation & Emergency Egress

Evacuating a building in an emergency is a crucial factor in the design and management of that building and this area of design and managenent must include the needs of disabled people. It is the responsibility of the building management to provide a safe "means of escape" for any disabled people in their building. The documents featured below provide guidance on building design, use and management to ensure that a building can safely accommodate disabled people. Guidance is also given on the design specification, equipment, fixtures, fittings and signage required for successful best practice emergency egress for disabled people.
